Stephen Procter (b1946 - d2001) was a respected artist and educator His glass sculptures are represented in public and private collections in Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, USA, Japan, Taiwan and Australia. Procter’s glass work has been critically reviewed and acclaimed through inclusion in numerous international publications about the Contemporary Studio Glass Movement.
In Australia, where he lived for nearly 10 years, Stephen was a major influence in the craft sector, promoting excellence in glasswork, as an artist, mentor and master teacher. Procter was a dedicated, insightful master teacher who possessed a rare ability to unlock in his student their unique artist voice. This has seen enormous creativity and dynamism in the Australian studio glass sector.
